Jenkins’ overarching philosophy toward physical education (P.E.) is for students to experience and understand the short-term and long-term benefits of physical activity and to motivate them to be lifelong movers. Complementary to this philosophy is our fundamental departmental belief that a strong P.E. program must promote inclusion, appropriately challenge students physically and mentally and embrace problem solving through cooperation and teamwork. The basis of this belief comes from our K-12 Project Adventure curriculum. In the elementary grades, these values are accomplished through manipulative (throwing, catching, sticking, etc.), locomotor (running, skipping, hopping, etc.) and non-locomotor (twisting, balancing, extending, etc.) skills developed as an individual and in cooperative groups.

Time on Learning:
Kindergarten: Receive 1, 30-minute P.E. class per week.
Grades 1 – 5: Receive 1, 45-minute P.E. class per week.
